E-education, Health Driven by Mobile Age

During the Ericsson Business Innovation Forum in Sao Paulo last Friday, the Company’s Senior Vice President and Chief Strategist Douglas Gilstrap shared Ericsson’s view on the impact that increased mobile connections are having on everyday life. While many areas were cited as potential beacons of prodigious, resultant growth, special attention was given to business efficiency, expanding education, and improving health. “We will see more and more mobile apps coming up, such as e-education and mobile health,” he emphasized. Gilstrap added that the outpouring of increasingly sophisticated mobile devices has elevated network quality and literally morphed the way people choose to access the internet. “Mobility is increasingly becoming a significant part of our daily lives. We always have devices within arm’s reach, allowing us instant access to information, entertainment, and social interaction.” According to the latest Ericsson Mobility Report, nearly 40 percent of all mobile phones sold in the third quarter of this year were smartphones. Gilstrap contends that such a prolific increase in accessibility will create a better-informed, and ultimately smarter, end consumer. There was additional positive discussion during the Forum regarding the limitless benefits of cloud computing and real-time functionality.
